Bottle consumed with Gazza and my dad 01.09.11, cheers Gazza for bringing this along Pours dark brown, in fact chestnut colour I suppose with a very light beige head. We pondered for quite some time on the nose, I sort of got old damp wood, probably with some alcohol having been present in it at some point. There was also talk of liqourice, but it wasn’t out & out liqourice more sweetened liqourice as in Allsorts with other sweetish aroma’s coming into play along with the liqourice. The hoppiness is present, but not overpowering in this mild, some citrus combined with a light fresh cobnut nuttiness. Touch of dark fruit sort of like sticky fig but this was only a bit part player in the overall scheme of things. Lovely beer, really impressed how the Sorachi Ace can work in a beer like a Mild which I understand that because of its subtlety is quite easy for a brewer to make a complete pigs ear of. Very good.
