Maduro brown ale is aged on Spanish cedar (cedrela), the same wood used to make cigar boxes. The Spanish cedar imparts notes of white pepper, sandalwood and other spices.

From backlog. Pours a black body with a tan off white head. Dark chocolate notes, oak and cedar tones with a hint of pepper, nuts, and a lightly roasted body. Nice spin on a brown ale.

Re-entering older ratings.

Entered to celebrate my rating number 20,200. Handbottled. An unclear red-brown beer with a lazing tan head. The aroma has notes of cedar wood, spices, bread, caramel, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, roasted malt, pepper, cedar wood, caramel, and brettanomyces, leading to a dry, roasted, and cedar finish.

Handbottle 33 cl. Courtesy of TheCheeseMan. Pours a clear dark amber with a frothy and lacing beige head. Amazing spicy cedar aroma. Medium body, sweet caramel and a little spice but the spicy, peppery cedar is pretty much all over - love it! Ends dryish with a subdued bitterness. Great. 150311

Bottle: Poured a deep brown color ale with a medium foamy head. Aroma is dominated by cedar notes which gives the impression that loads of pepper were used in the making of this beer. Taste is quite astringent with loads of cedar and a spicy peppery feels which is not that enjoyable. I guess some of the caramel malt is noticeable though quite hidden by the cedar notes. Overall I can’t say I really enjoyed and must admit that this experience should not be repeated.
