Fergus Mor: the legendary king of Dal Riata was the founder of Scotland according to Medieval and Renaissance myth. Rulers of Scotland throughout its history have claimed descent from Fergus Mor. A fitting name for this, the first beer in the Campeador series, a barrel aged collaboration of Cigar City Brewing and Knightly Spirits. Fergus Mor is a blend of Big Sound Scotch Ale and Bolita Brown Ale, topped off with a wee bit of Imperial Stout and aged in a Buffalo Trace bourbon barrel. Limited release of 204 - 750ml bottles.

Bottle @ Papsø. Thanks. Pours dark unclear brown with a small off white head. Nose is deep and vinous. Oak, caramel, prune, vanilla and liquorice. Nice. Smooth, deep, vinous and sticky flavor and palate. A bit of alcohol in the back. One complex and delicious beer!

Deep mahogany with a medium beige head. Sweet aroma with burned malt, dark chocolate, hops, bourbon, wood and vanilla. Sweet flavour with burned malt, dark chocolate, vanilla, wood and bourbon. Finished sweet and full. Harmonic. Nice one.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of daknole. Pours a reddish brown with a beige head. Sweet oaky nose - with some licorice allsorts. Solid body, roasted malts, burned caramel and distinct bourbon notes. Warming alcohol finish. Quite lovely. 230410

Medium brown head. Opaque black body. Dark cocoa and alcohol aroma with milky honey notes. Dry-sweetish alcoholic grainy sugary marzipan taste with oxidized papery chocolate notes. Mid-to-full body. Dry aftertaste of much the same but emphasizing the cocoa. Nice, but too alcoholic. (0.75l bottle shared by kestral.)

Bottle 75cl. @ cgarvieuk - Cigar City tasting.[ Bottle #158/204 ]. Clear dark red brown color with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, chocolate, fruity, vanilla, pepper notes. Flavor is light heavy chocolate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a long duration, light peppery chili bourbon finish. Body is medium, texture is oily - creamy, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light to moderate alcoholic. [20100206]

22 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is dark roasted caramelish and light roasted breadish note. Sweet, roasted and dark caramelish base flavoured. Lingering chocolate to roasted malt base. Smooth malty finish.
