Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with medium frothy tan head that lasts. The aroma is strong roast, smoke, cedar, toffee. Medium mouth, roasted malt, nice smoke, light cedar, boozy finish, very nice.

Black oily pour with very little carbonation. Complex aroma of bitter chocolate, roast malt, alcohol. The flavor is sweet and complex. Some bitterness and soy in the finish. Almost too much. Cedar didn’t show up anywhere.

bottle. Very nice imperial stout. Hit all the right cords in what I like in an imperial stout - Not incredibely distinct but sits well on the palate.

750 ml bottle from a trade. I don’t remember who since this bottle is nearly 2 years old. Great looking stout, thick tan head that laced the entire snifter. Nose is freshly cut mulch. Seriously, nothing but earthy wood. Dear god, is there any stout underneath all this wood? Oh wait also get tar, black pepper and tobacco. Sorry this is overwhelming. Wood and black pepper finish. Love Imperial stouts but this just really isn’t my thing. I hope the aging of this bottle did something to the wood and it took over because I just don’t see this fine brewery putting out a one dimensional brew like this.

Bottle with thanks to juiceisloose! Pours deep opaque black with a small deep brown head and some lacing. Aroma is roasty, coffee, cocoa, and, what is that? Oh yeah cedar and woody notes. Interesting. Flavor is the same, little sweetness here, more roasty and woody with medium bitterness. Full body with a soft, silky mouthfeel. CCB really knows how to work the palate with their impys. Nice beer, but not earth shattering.

HOly Cedar, Batman! poured like zhukov, pitch black and oily. nose was like smoking some salmon on cedar planks just a big chewy wood presence. taste was even bigger. I certainly would have to split t his one a few ways. So much cedar that it’s almost overwhelming but really refreshing overall. would love to get more of this.

Pours a thick, dark, almost black with a head that was nearly purple at first, but settled into a nice, foamy cream. Strong aroma of chocolate, coffee, and licorice. These are also quite noticeable in the flavors, along with a rather pronounced woodsiness--I’m not really sure that aging this in cedar is such a good idea. The cedar doesn’t really enhance the stout characteristics.

Tap at Cigar City. Snifter pour. Pitch black with a deep beige brown head. Beastly thick chocolate notes. Though quite smooth and creamy too, the alcohol doesn’t jump right out at you. Deep cocoa, chocolate milk notes. The mild cedar tones really complement the rich malts. Very chocolate centered, maybe a touch of vanilla, hint of tobacco. This is pretty much Imperial Stout heaven. World Class.

Pitch black color, dark brown color. Lots of cedar on top of dark chocolate, dark fruit, very hoppy. Alcohol well hidden. I felt the cedar clashed a bit with the imperial stout characteristics. Nice, but not taking me special.
