Russian Stout barrel aged it in American Oak barrels for 4 months with blueberries and Brettanomyces. Big & oaky, tangy & funky, and has a huge espresso malt backbone.

Sampled @ Extreme Beer Fest, 4 Feb, 17. Pitch black color, no head. Aroma is sour oak, tannic hints, red wine.
The flavor shows sour berries, juniper like hints with a medium roasted backbone. The Brett sours the fruit and it ends on a lasting astringent oak. I really like this brewers “The Russian” and I am confused why you would ruin a perfectly good R.I.S. base like this. The Brett and berry also really thins out the body.Hard to finish. I prefer non-soured Imperial stouts
