Our s’mores-inspired milk stout!

Break out the s'mores fixin's - there's a new brew in town! Inspired by cold nights around the campfire, this milk stout is brewed with marshmallows, graham crackers, cocoa nibs, cinnamon, Madagascar vanilla beans and smoked malt. The only thing missing is a tent, and a few fireside ghost stories.

Speaking of FIRE ... check out that label artwork! Campfire Amplifier's packaging is the first of future Art Series illustrations that will be done by our next Art Series Artist, Ryan Besch! Ryan has been designing notable gig posters and vinyl art for 20+ years, and his alternative comics-inspired approach pairs perfectly with our off-centered ales!

Well fuck me. So some time ago I pledged to never buy another beer from DFH and put money into Calagione's pocket. It was a combination of a few factors - one was the descent of their beers from solid straightforward beers to ridiculous overpriced concoction, but the real kicker was Calagione's brow-beating of ratebeer a few years back after the success of his brewery was due in large part to the beer geek evangelism on sites like this. But then in a flurry of seeing a bunch of beers I've never tried I ended up barely looking at the labels, and realized only after I got home what I had bought. But just to prove that Sam Calagione is an ass, I'll be rating this completely unbiased. Its a solid stout, big chocolate notes, hints of the graham cracker, plus the dark malts, maybe a hint of smoke, a real nice mixture that makes a good christmas time beer. Meanwhile, DFH still sucks, and this time will be my last time buying one of their beers.

Bottle, big black pour. Nice choco tan head. Malty nose. Quite cloying up front. Big dark semisweet chocolate impact. Some mild carbonation. A tad medicinal in the middle. Gets more difficult as session continues. Not as smooths as smores should be but whatever. Some hints of spice in the background, maybe cinnamon? Not sure. I like stouts but this comes across as a little mess. Mouthcoating finish. Not impressed.
