Named for the delicate engravings popularized by 19th century seafarers, Scrimshaw is a fresh tasting Pilsner brewed in the finest European tradition using Munich malt and Hallertauer and Tettnang hops. Scrimshaw has a subtle hop character, a crisp, clean palate, and a dry finish.

From old tasting notes. Hazy amber gold color. Small bubbles cascade to a rocky white head. Earthy, grainy malt aroma. Mildly sweet malt flavor upfront. Good subtle spicy hop flavor surfaces in finish. Complex and drinkable.

Tap at J’s. Pours a clear gold with a finger of foam that dissipates quickly. Light, grainy nose with some lemon and faint malt aromas. Clean and crisp. Well-rounded and balanced mouthfeel. Shit, this makes Lagunitas Pils seem downright revolutionary. Burnt grain middle, slight diacetyl around the edges, and slack, apathetic carbonation. Way too close to macro light yellow lager for comfort.

Bottle. Clear pale yellow with small foamy white head, faint malt aroma, medium carbonation, sweet malt taste, smooth body, abrupt finish with slight aftertaste (honey?). Very taste but nor remarkable.

Bottle at Kibroms.Average appearance, grainy aroma, comes off kind of the lager side. Lightly hopped, mild bite at the end, could use a bit more hops. Overall, not too bad, but pales in comparison to its German ancestors.

Nice pilsner. Little multiprocessor and heavier in body than is traditional, but still very drinkable. I’ll have more.
