With origins dating back to the 1800s, Sleeman Cream Ale is the brew that helped relaunch a brewery. Found on page 64 of the original Sleeman recipe book, it’s made from a variety of imported hops and combines the easy-drinking nature of a lager with the rich fruit character of an ale. You’ll notice a slight aroma of pear or apple in this medium-bodied, well-balanced ale.

Tastes kind of like an unpleasant mix between sour and bitter that hangs around much longer in your mouth than you would like. Bottle.

Sleeman’s Cream Ale poured a medium-light golden colour with a big white creamy head that stayed a while. Lacing is pretty sticky all around. At first pour, smells like a pilsner (slightly skunky because of the clear bottle), but then, sweet malt and notes of hop spread out. Lightly carbonated with tiny bubbles. The taste definitely gives out the sweet malt and not much hop is felt. Smooth creamy mouthfeel, refreshing, but not much other than that.

473 mL can courtesy of Kinz. Thanks? Pours a pale golden color with a VERY faint haziness. Medium creamy offwhite head with decent head retention and lacing. The aroma is grainy and dusty with a bit of a corn note and a very faint grassiness. The taste is pale grainy malts, grass, corn. Sweet finish. About in the same caliber as a foreign pale lager, but in that sense, not too bad.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Lightly carbonated beer. Pleasant enough. Really not creamy! Lingering bitterness. Okay.

Pale blond color. Terrible mix of Ale and Lager flavors, corny, papery, with low bitterness, light yeast action.

Bouteille 341ml.

Good stuff to pick up at the liquor store on your way to the summer cabin, very drinkable, kind of a decent flavour, but easily forgettable. A cut above the low-end brews however, and a good choice when you need to polish off a case quickly.
