Clear dark amber without head. Aroma is very sweet malty, rye bread, caramel and loads of alcohol. Flavor is very sweet and light bitter. The finish is cloying sweet and burning alcohol. Too sweet and too much alcohol. 271109

660 ml bottle. Amber body with a thin and diminishing tan head. Aroma is rich malty, caramel, dry fruit and light oxidizing. Nice malty flavor with caramel, dry fruit and balanced bitterness. This beer has just started the oxidizing process and that’s just at a pleasant level right now. Feels calm and matured, well balanced.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin tan head. The aroma has notes of The aroma has powerful notes of alcohol, caramel, and malt, as well as medium notes of bread. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel sauce, malt, and bread as well as lighter notes of alcohol, leading to a dry alcoholic finish, where the caramel note lingers. A bit simple.

On tap at Esbjerg Beerfestival. A clear, copper-colored beer topped by a diminishing beige head. Alcohol, dried fruits, hints of spices and caramel malts on the nose. Sweet, raisiny flavor, full-bodied and warming, with some spice notes and caramel. Sweet, warming finish. The other vintages of Willemoes Jul has been nice, not as warming, and also more tasteful, but it’s far from a bad beer. Rating: 6-4-6-4-13-3.3. 091023

Bottle, #42811. It’s a clear, dark amber beer witha a small, beige head. Dried fruits, hints of oxidation, caramel, some meaty notes, alcohol and hops on the rather complex and pleasant nose. The flavor is maybe a little bit too alcoholic, with flavors of caramel, dried fruits, both raisins and dried apricots, as well as bitterness. It’s full-bodied and warming on the palate, finishing sweet and warming, with some bitterness too. Caramel and dried fruits too in the end. I’m a bit suprised about the oxidation, but it’s a fine beer, although a bit on the warm side. Judging from my rating of the fresh beer, the year in the cellar was a good idea. Went well with nuts and dried fruits. 101229 and 101231

66cl bottle. clear amber, smooth light brown head. looks very nice. aroma is syrupy sweetish, faint dark fruits, alc. warmth, bitterness. flavor is alcoholic, metallic, malty, faint dark fruity, bitter. flavor is alc. strong but quite boring, lacking both finesse and character. sort of reminds me of european barley wine. in my "european old beer" style it works as well as others of its kind, but i must admit it’s no pleasure to drink, just a strong nutty malty bitter boozy beer.
