Bloomsbury Brown was brewed to commemorate the company’s long association with Charleston, where the ‘Bloomsbury Group’ used as a meeting place during the first half of the twentieth century. Harveys delivered beer to Duncan Grant over many years and a bottle is still occasionally featured in his still life compositions.
A traditional Brown Ale. Sweet and dark with a nutty palate and discreet bitterness. A refreshing drink which may be served with a wide variety of foods or enjoyed in its own right.

Bottled (at Chriso, BB 11/2008). I think from SilkTork. Dark brown color, small off-white head. Toffee, raisins and some cardboard. Light lemonade palate. Pear and raisins in the flavor. Very thin. Sugary.

275ml bottle. Dark chestnut with a moderate off-white head. Aroma of caramel with some earthiness. Sweet toffee flavour with some chewy malt and a short, dry finish. Ok.

275ml bottle. This is an ale that got more for the eyes than the palate. Great appearance with a solid beige head resting on a mahogany body with ruby highlights. Light malty aroma and roasted sugar-like malts in flavour. Watered (Thanks to Wivi-Ann and Andrew for bringing an eight pack of Harveys from Lewes to Oxford, 15.03.2008).

Bottle. Deep ruby, thin beige head. Smells like my dad`s home brew brown ale from 20 years ago. Yeasty dry malt aroma with some oilyness. Some nuttiness and caramel. Nice caramel in mouth and some dryish finish. Fine

Brown color. Malty and some caramel aroma. The flavor has some honey as well, and a fairly good hopping.

An opaque unclear brown beer with no head. The aroma is fruity with notes of sweet prunes. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, prunes, and licorice while the body is thin.
