Growing up as a little prince in one of the richest noble families of Hungary during the Habsburg Empire could seem like a straight fairytale story. But to little Prince Anton life didn’t seem much like a fairytale. When he was only eleven years old, his parents would start pestering him with questions about his adult future. “Military or diplomacy, what’s it gonna be my son”, his dad would constantly ask, raising his eyebrows to emphasize the seriousness of the question. But Anton couldn’t really care less. Because all he really cared for was cake. He would often sneak downstairs to the kitchen where the family’s Austrian pastry chef Dr. Erwin Schrödinger reigned. And here he would gawk in amazement for hours at the wonderful constructions Dr. Schrödinger created. To Anton it became more and more clear that his future lay in cake construction, not in the military or in the diplomatic corps. His parents would plea, threaten and punish him, but Anton was a strong-willed and stubborn li’l prince. He ended up in Vienna, training with the best cake makers in the world and eventually became a pastry chef himself. The first and only ever in his family. Over the years Anton created many cakes, some of which are long forgotten. But one of them almost became the national cake of Hungary. This beer takes its inspiration from that particular cake.
This beer is a collaboration made with FIRST Craft Beer from Budapest, Hungary.

Cremiger Antrunk, Kakao, wenig Vanille, erkennbarer, gut eingebetteter Alkohol. Süffig, weiter viel Kakao, unterstützt von nussigen Noten. Eher trocken im Hintergrund, würzig, schokoladiger Nachgeschmack. Gut! 12/12/12/12/11/12

Balanserende bitterhet. Yummi!

44 cl can from the brewery's webshop poured into a snifter glass. As "The pastry Prince". Near black with a dense, tanned head. Sweet aroma with rich dark malts, vanilla, syrup, lactose, liquorice, cocoa, lightly toasted notes. The taste is sweet. Full body. Slightly drying finish with sweet, dark malts. Something for the sweet tooth.

--Sample, thanks fonefan! -- Near black, small head. Aroma of Black Forest cake (chocolate, cream and sour cherries). Sweet with full body and rounded mouthfeel. Custard, caramel and cocoa powder some artificial nut flavour. The finish is dominated by artficial sweetener. Artificial and overly sweet.

Sample (thanks fonefan!). Pitch black colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is nutty, some slight toasted tones with mild sugary and vanillaish tones. Flavour is floral, fruity, some mild vanilla and wooden tones with some fudgey elements. Mild tarty tones lurking in the background too. Nicely sweetish sour mix.
