An Imperial Pastry Stout based on the Hungarian Esterházy Torta.

Growing up as a little prince in one of the richest noble families of Hungary during the Habsburg Empire could seem like a straight fairytale story. But to little Prince Anton life didn’t seem much like a fairytale. When he was only eleven years old, his parents would start pestering him with questions about his adult future. “Military or diplomacy, what’s it gonna be my son”, his dad would constantly ask, raising his eyebrows to emphasize the seriousness of the question. But Anton couldn’t really care less. Because all he really cared for was cake. He would often sneak downstairs to the kitchen where the family’s Austrian pastry chef Dr. Erwin Schrödinger reigned. And here he would gawk in amazement for hours at the wonderful constructions Dr. Schrödinger created. To Anton it became more and more clear that his future lay in cake construction, not in the military or in the diplomatic corps. His parents would plea, threaten and punish him, but Anton was a strong-willed and stubborn li’l prince. He ended up in Vienna, training with the best cake makers in the world and eventually became a pastry chef himself. The first and only ever in his family. Over the years Anton created many cakes, some of which are long forgotten. But one of them almost became the national cake of Hungary. This beer takes its inspiration from that particular cake.
This beer is a collaboration made with FIRST Craft Beer from Budapest, Hungary.

Can. Black color with beige head. Aroma is definite Esterhazy cake, with the vanilla, chocolate cream. Taste is mild roast, vanilla, chocolate. Silky mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Tasty!

Can from Craftbier webshop, Parchim and consumed at home Monday 1st January 2023 listening to Sufjan Stevens - Javelin, we had a big Middle Eastern Style Platter with Lamb, Date & Pine Nut Meatballs, Labneh, with Homemade Hummus, Homemade Tahini Yoghurt Dip, Homemade Flatbread, Homemade Falafel, Dates, Figs etc. Pours shark eye black with a large beige head. A touch heavy on the lactose, there is also a nuttiness. Super sweet, yes a little bit too sweet, chocolate cake, nuttiness, thickness in the mouth, a little sweet kirsch, a bit boozy. I'm going to find this difficult to finish on my own.
