Independence is a state of mind. We believe our brewery is independent of mind because we stick passionately to what we believe in: brewing the finest beer we can to the best of our ability.

Available throughout the year, Independence is a classic, full bodied and malty beer with subtle hints of mixed fruits and punches of spice. A perfect balance of Pilgrim and Saaz hops delivers a high quality, nicely rounded ale, with earthy and slightly spicy notes.

Cask gravity at Kingston BF 2007. Copper colour. Minerally, sharp, a little hard and tinny. Hops are on the earthy side. Drank it talking to a guy called Martin from South Wimbledon who was wearing a Horse Brass Pub polo shirt from Portland, Oregon. It really is quite flinty, the beer. Like licking a wall of a flint stone church with earthy hops growing up the side whilst sucking a Werther’s Original.

[Cask at GBBF 2005] An orange beer with a thin lazing light brown head. The aroma is sweet fruity, while the flavor is sweet and very roasted, leading to a dry bitter end.

Cask Conditioned at NERAX 4/29/2005
Copper colored beer with a foamy white head, good retention. Caramel-orange aroma, some notes of gingerbread? Flavor of dry breadiness, graham crackers and then BAM! a big dose of diacetyl. Doughy malt, bland and watery on the end, no carbonation.
