Rich elderflower aromas, ripe red berry and citrus flavours and a long, smooth, fruity finish. Attila was our first ever Cask Aged beer! John Bryan (our Brewing Director) started his first experiments with krausening Attila back in 2001, wanting to create a strong ale that was nevertheless easy to drink. Although perhaps only John would regard a 7.5% ABV strong ale like Attila as “sessionable” ! 10/1/2020. Cask at the Dove Street Inn, Ipswich. Pours clear golden with a small bubbly white head. Aroma of stewed tropical fruit, sweet malt, berries, hops, boiled sweets, touch of caramel and light woody notes. Medium sweetness and light to moderate bitterness. Medium body, sticky texture, soft to flat carbonation. Decent but not quite as good as I’d hoped for.

(Gravity cask at White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 24 Nov 2018) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with citrus, grapefruit, grass and red berries. Fruity, hoppy taste with notes of grapefruit, grass, gooseberries and a generous citric bitterness in a slightly sweetish finish. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty, with the hop presence expected from Oakham. Nice one.

Cask @ The Abbey, Shrewsbury. Pours a deep copper amber, off-white head. Caramel nose, continuing to taste, with some odd herbal, almost chemical notes. I notice no one else has mentioned this so can only assume there's something amiss here. Not great anyway.

Pours a clear bright gold colour with a small foamy white head. Cereal and citrus aroma with some light floral notes. A sweet fruity taste, grainy malt, caramel, syrupy ripe fruit flavours and alcohol. More fruity bitterness in the finish.
