Tripel’s medium body and straw hue belie a beer of wondrous complexity. Fruity yeast character dominates throughout, while sweet malt and noble hops give way to a bit of warmth in the finish. Ever hugged a monk? This dangerously drinkable abbey-inspired ale just might have you chasing down the next one you see.

Oddly heavily hopped. Yeast and candi lacking. Booze heavy.

Turbid gold - nose is very floral, with a fair amount of honey and some grassy notes - creamy texture, medium body - flavor is medium sweet, with some tartness to balance - some spicy alcohol and moderate grassy hops also cut the sweetness well - light notes of apple and melon rind - moderate peppery phenols combine with the moderate alcohol to create a very warming finish - quite nice, really.

Bomber - pours a hazy gold with a soapy lace - loads of clove and banana in the nose, with a moderate honey sweetness and gentle spiciness underneath - creamy mouthfeel - not as sweet as most american-made tripels, but also not nearly as complex as I would like for the style - a bit of pear and other fruity qualities - a strong spicy character and light floral notes - an odd, starchy quality (like overcooked rice) makes it a little less enjoyable - lingering light sweetness - well-masked alcohol - a couple of flaws, but a decent effort.

22 ounce bottle into chalice; bottled 08/12/2010. Pours hazy golden straw color with a nice 1 finger dense white head with good retention that reduces to a thick cap that lingers. Some spotty lacing clings to the glass as well. Aromas of lemon, pear, apple, orange, pepper, biscuit, grass, yeasty spices, and light tart grains. Nice and well balanced aromas. Quite standard for a tripel as expected. Taste of big lemon, apple, orange, pepper, grass, biscuit, tart grains, and spicy yeast. Lingering notes of citrus, pepper, grains, and yeast spices on the finish for a bit. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy mouthfeel. Very smooth drinking for 9.3% but is still a bit of a sipper. Alcohol is extremely well hidden with only a slight warming after the finish. Overall this is an excellent American made Tripel. Great flavor balance and complexity; with good drinkability for the level of alcohol.

Bottle @ home. Cloudy, yellow orange appearance with a big, fluffy white head. Nice lemon, citrusy, belgian yeasty, sweet golden ale nose. A little spicy, peppery, Belgian yeasty, citrusy, tangy, light belgian ale flavor. Pretty tasty but I’m not a huge fan of their belgian yeast strain.

22 oz. bottle, pours hazy golden with a medium white head. Aroma of apples, yeast, and some sweetness (honey?). Flavour initially has a huge barnyard yeast funk, lots of spices, and banana - I would've guessed this was a saison had I not seen the bottle.

A hazy golden ale with a thin white head. A pleasant herbal aroma with coriander, chalky notes. In mouth, a nice smooth triple with coriander and curacao, a bit light in mouth. Bottle at Catherine’s b-day party, May 8 2010.

Baby food peach and banana nose. Cloudy amber, thin head, minimal lacing. Thin mouthfeel for the style. Peachy with grassy hops, candi sugar underneath. Light orange peel finish. Alcohol not noticeable. Neither heavy no cloying as I often find in Tripels. Rather quaffable, which is dangerous given the alcohol content.

Bomber. Clear, golden body. Frothy white head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of clove, caramel, soap, alcohol. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter with peppery, alcoholic notes and a slight tartness. Medium body, watery turning sticky texture, lively carbonation. The elements of a good tripel are here, but it is overly sweet. In addition, the flavors are muddled and the aroma is indistinct.

Bomber pours pure clear gold with full lumpy white head and spotty streaky lacing. The aroma is fruity with sweet apples, a touch of lemon, some grains and a yeasty Belgian spice. There’s really nothing terribly interesting about the aroma. The taste is similar but nuanced with a fairly smooth to a touch creamy body. It begins sweet with apple, pear and apricot then growing into modestly bright yeasty spices. It ends neutral to a tad dry and refreshing.
