Ripe, red Louisiana strawberries are harvested at the peak of the season in the early morning chill. The scent of the juicy red Ponchatoula berries fills the air as they’re picked and pressed for Abita Strawberry Harvest Lager. The end result is a light, crisp lager with just a hint of strawberry sweetness.

Draft at loca New Orleans restaurant we had gift card only tick available. Gold pour no head. Nose is thick strawberry syrup. Tastes similar I would’ve guessed a syrup but they say fresh harvest so really condensed strawberry flavor. A light lager underneath. Not much else but nothing else promised.

You want cucumber water or strawberry water? How about strawberry apple pie? Buttery weird but also baked?

Aroma was rotten, putrid strawberries. Flavor was hindered by the thinness of the body and was basically a mild strawberry flavor with some carbonic tang, some weird oily sweetness. The finish is a memory of that awful aroma.

Shared 12 oz. bottle. Straw color, slightly hazy, with a white head. Aroma of strawberry and a sub-par lager. Taste is wheat, very weak and artificial strawberry, and bad, impure watery lager. Similar to Purple Haze, but with strawberries rather than raspberries. Not a fan.

12oz bottle from Wegman’s, West Seneca, NY. Pale straw with a billowing off-white head; the aroma mixes grassy hops with some faint floral strawberries; the taste has a honey-like sweetness to start with weak strawberry flavours, then becomes drier and grainy, but fizzles out without any real finish. Not a great combination.

Bottle from Harvest Market Pours a fairly clear medium straw color with a decent sized bubbly white head that slowly dissipates to a cap on top. Aromas of strawberry but a bit on the subtle side. Light spice, lemon, and just a touch of yeasty funk. The flavor follows the aroma quite well. Yeasty wheaty with a hint of lemon and funk with a solid hit of strawberry to add a bit of complexity. Light to medium body with a moderate level of carbonation. Nice fruity light easy drinking summer ale, I quite enjoyed it.

12 ounce bottle. Hazy Straw color with a large fluffy white head. Nose is redolent of strawberries with a slight lemon backdrop. Taste is more faint strawberry with a watery wet cardboard palate.no body or evidence of hops. Disappointing.
