Bottle on 12/28/2008 from River City Cellars. Dark black body with a medium creamy light brown head. Sweet chocolate, roast, light coffee, oak, and a bit of floral hops. Roasty, chocolate and floral hop flavor, some coffee hints with a bit of oak, fairly bitter. Medium full body with moderately low carbonation.

22 oz bottle. Pours a dark black color. Aroma is chocolate, coffee. Flavor is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee, and notes of hops. Pretty creamy, smooth beer without much of an alcohol hint to it.

bottle - Pours near black with a one finger tan head. It has a roast malt and chocolate aroma. The flavor is of course of those big roast malts along with chocolate and a hint of oak. It’s well hopped and has a medium body. I really enjoyed this one.

Pours dark brown with light brown head. Aromas of roasted malts and coffee. Slightly sweet and bitter with hints of chocolate and oak. Medium to full body with minimal carbonation and a dry, earthy finish. It was better than I was expecting which is always nice!

Deep dark brown coloured body with a nice dense tan head that seems to fade fast. Aroma of fresh hops out of the bottle but definitely showing more oatmeal and roasted malt in the glass. A bunch of caramel and sugars also grace the aroma. Medium-bodied; Nice complex taste with hops again showing remarkably first then oak, vanilla, figs and oatmeal. Aftertaste shows the caramel and sweetness but the alcohol aftertones and smoke goes nicely. Overall, a nice beer and great to try without being horribly overpowering! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from K&E Discount Beverage in New Paltz, New York on 07-April-2008.

Bottle. Aroma of dark toasted malt, could be some coffee, chocolate and oak. It’s a strong aroma. Near opaque brown/black color with a decent tan head. Near full bodied with creamy carbonation. It has an oak bite to go with dark toasted malt, and a touch of coffee. Finishes dry, slightly astringent and a little woody and bitter. Leaves the mouth a bit stunned. It’s pretty good.

Pour is a dark black with a large tan head. Aroma is chocolate and coffee with a hint of the oak, I think that is what they were going for in this beer. Flavor is a super rich coffee, almost like an espresso. Finish has a bit of the oak. Not oaked out the wazoo like some beers but a decent stout with just the right amount of the oak-aging going on.

Courtesy of gillard. Pours deep dark with dark brown edges. It has a nice mocha looking head and some sheet lacing. The aroma is a nice mix of burnt malts and oak. I also get roasted malts, mild oatmeal twang and a hint of coffee. The taste begins feeling a bit thin. I seem to get a neutral taste to start followed by roasted malts and bold burnt malts. Into the finish a brief oak note surfaces before mild malt astringency shows up to add some balance to the richer maltier notes. The oatmeal twang is very light and just noticeable. A lingering burnt malt note heads deep into the after taste.
