Angucho is our first coffee beer. As with many of our blends, the idea came first from tasting through our ripening barrel stock, with several barrels putting us in mind of the flavours seen in some lighter-roast specialty coffees.
The beer is a blend of four brews produced in July and August 2020 and August 2022. The worts were made using small quantities of roasted and crystallised barley to produce dark amber beers with flavours reminiscent of red fruits, cocao, nuts, and coffee. The wort was boiled with aged hops to provide a restrained hop flavour and to allow for good production of acidity by the lactic acid bacteria present in our spontaneous fermentations.

Taster showing dark amber with sparse white foam.
The nose shows moderately intense notes of coffee and vegetal bell pepper.
The palate is very well carbonated and light bodied. Moderately tart with bretty and horse blanket forward and light flavors of coffee throughout.

75cl split by SirAlex Straight outta Bury. Pours amber copper with a small White head. Earthy coffee leaning towards cold coffee and green pepper. Medium bodied. Sippable though lacking the refinement you normally find in beers from Mills.
