A crisp clean beer, sparklingly gold, with a delightfully floral nose and subtle bitter taste.

Clear 500ml bottle (4.2%), best before mid July 2008, drank early May 2008. Poured into a Batemans half pint tumbler (twice). It was a light amber colour, clear and sparkling, with a good formed white head which sadly soon fell away to a thin wispy covering. Fairly sweet aroma, toffee apples and malted milk biscuits came to my mind. This is the 13th Batemans beer I have reviewed on this site. I obviously like their beers and this is no exception. It has a sweetish feel to it, although there is a dryness in the finish. I also detected spices (pepper, cumin and tumeric?), but the wife was cooking mushrooms in the room next door. Lovely summer brew and another fine beer from a wonderful brewery set in a smashing part of Great Britain.

(Bottle) Bright coppery golden with good white head. Aroma has notes of biscuit and rice. Light body, well carbonated. Flavor is thin and not very pleasant with seaweed and subtle toffee. Overall a bit bland, thin and not very nice.

Very light orange-gold color. Strong fruity aroma, lots of hops, slightly nutty, biscuity. Dry, fruity flavor. Lots of biscuit-like grain. Some citrus, slightly grassy. Dry finish is quite fruity. A very nice beer, though not quite as interesting as the Combined Harvest, which is in the same vein. Got a lot more complex as it warmed a bit.
