Orange to amber colour with a small white head. Smells hoppy, alcoholic and a bit sharp. Tastes sharp hops and bitter. Great carbo, full body.

Bottle at RBESG 2011 Grand Tasting at The Dean Swift, London. Pours a clear, ruby-amber with a great, foamy, off-white head. Big ripe fruit nose, some definite raisin notes. Extremely sweet flavor, notes of pear, toffee, caramel, fig, raisin, banana. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warm finish, more sugar, sweet toast, dried fruits. Superb.

Bottle from A Tutta Birra, Milan
Hazy amber color; generous head, compact. Light aroma, alcohol and caramel, frankly unimpressive. Good body strength, sweet caramel flavor, some malt too; there are notes of fruit (from the top fermentation), correct bitterness, evident alcohol presence. Solid, sweet and pleasant brew, but fairly simple; nothing special.

9/10/11/11//10

375mL bottle from the brewery, split with Matts_Property, pours dark amber orange with a small white head. Aroma of tropical fruits, toffee, caramel and candied sugar. Flavour of tropical fruits, toffee, caramel and quite a prominent hop kick that lingers. Moderate sweetness and a lush, viscous body. Delicious.

Bottled, thanks Nightfall! Cloudy amber, rich head. Caramelly nose with arousing sherry atop. Oaky and caramelly, sweet and full bodied with soft mouthfeel. Peppery oaky finish. Lovely malt character, plenty of interesting oak flavour, although on the sweet side.

Marks for Appearance are an average, as beer was sampled in weak artificial light after dark. Alcohol, faintly spicy nose with caramel malts showing, and oranges. Sweet, worts-like, but with a punch of alcohol behing, pineapple ester and other fruity notes. Pretty sharp MF, alcoholpunch and -warming. Unbelievably alcoholic (both technically as in character) for a British ale. Like a smooth punch in the gut. Yet well-worth looking for, if you can still find it.
