29th Oct 2018; on-tap at 'Im Alten Zolln' Lubeck. The serving lady said she didn't know what brewery made it, but it came form "The South". Anyway it pours a mahogany red colour with a beige head. Fairly sweet overall, with a caramel front to both the nose and taste; typical Dunkel really, a bit 'thin' body wise and too sweet for it's own good. Luckily I have a sweet tooth, so I actually enjoy most German Dunkel bier I come across. Ha, just noticed it's classed as an 'Amber Ale' on Ratebeer, surely not?

Draught @ the brewpub. Pours clear robust copper brown with airy but stable off-white head. Clear aroma of malt, yeast and a touch of caramel. Mild hints of metal. Sweetish flavour of caramel malt and fruit, with estery and hoppy notes. Rather thin body. Bitter afteraste of hops and metal. Not that bad but nothing really impressive, either.

Milder Antrunk von kaum geröstetem Getreide. Dieser Eindruck setzt sich noch fort, geringfügig malzig, wässrig. Im Nachgeschmack noch einen Ticken intensiver ändert nicht besser. 11/7/9/7//7

Draught in Lübeck. Clear dark chestnut colour. Big and stable, creamy tan head. Caramelly aroma. The flavour is roasted at first, turns fruity, caramelly and slightly sour. Nutty aftertaste.

Draught (@ Alter Zolln, Lübeck): Chestnut-amber coloured, clear, stable mid-sized off-white head; fruity-toasty nose, a bit sugary and some well hidden hops underneath; light to moderate sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied, relatively soft; slightly lingering fruity-caramelly finish, some sugars, again. Pretty O.K. …
