In 1873 in a small place in Banja Luka, beside the Vrbas grove, a brave little Banja Luka brewery was created by the work of a trappist monk from the Marija Zvijezda monastery. The founder of this small brewery was Franz Pfanner, the leader of the Trappist Order in Banja Luka, who together with other monks, besides the brewery, also established a cheese factory to produce the famous Trappista cheese, as well as one of the first power plants in Europe, adhering to his modest lifestyle and chore "Pray and work" ("Ora et labora").

Dieses Bier aus der teilautonomen Republika Srpska ist ein klassisches Balkanbier mit hoher Drikability, aber ohne wirklichen Geschmack. Man kann es leicht und schnell trinken, aber wirklich glücklich wird man davon nicht.

Light yellow color with tiny finger head, bubbly. Taste is of sweet grain, corn and malt. It’s not awfull but also it’s not good. Something at low middle end of european lagers.

Not bad for a lager. But consider that I just drank it in a park after getting lost in Niagara Falls Canada after buying a bunch of actually good beer on the American side of the border that was weighing my backpack down. I decided to sacrifice this one, and it tasted alright considering the circumstances. And it was even piss warm. Found it in the LCBO in Niagara beside a Charlevoix triple I wisely decided to save for later. Just grain and average chemical tang otherwise. Rock on - cheers to Bosnia. I feel like an alcy but the positive ions from the waterfall roaring nearby counteract any bad influence on the spirit, in my reckoning.

Bottle from Brewforia. Pours very pale gold with a slight white head. Very mild aromas of pale malt and possibly grass. Light body. Flavor is somewhat grassy, but not enought to be bitter, and a light grapey sweetness. It gets a little bitter in the finish.

(Bottle, 4.5 % ABV, from Prisma Itäkeskus, 20120122) The beer poured pale golden and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had paper, cardboard and hint of metallicness. Palate was light bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, cardboard, paper, metallicness and mild bitterness. Aftertaste was papery and mildly bitter. Quite bad.

Many thanks to Jasenko I for bringing the bottle from Bosnia!
Appearance: Light golden, clear. Some fizzy white head. Aroma: Some malt and cereal. Slight hops. Not much. Taste: More malt and cereal, oily. Very easy drinking. Maybe not memorable, though... Info: 330ml bottle, 29/9-2011

50cl bottle. Poured clear golden with a white head. Aroma has some sweet malt and grassy notes. Flavor is malt and weak fruity notes, slightly sweet finish. Smooth and very easy to drink, quite refreshing. Nice surprise.

This Bosnian lager pours a light golden colour with a foamy white head, average retention, little tiny spots of lace all over and tiny bubble carbonation. The nose is definitely like a pilsner, but it does fade away pretty fast. Smells like malt substitutes. Crisp, but watery mouthfeel. I can taste the hop in this one, so a plus for one of these millions of Euro lagers. A bitter start, but looks like corn in the finish. Strong start, week finish. Refreshing nonetheless, and nice to try a beer from this country.

Big thanks to ogivlado for that beer. Can looks simple, beer in the glass zippy, huge head. Starts mild, modest dry, quite metallically from the beginning. Finish not well balanced, sourish-metallically. Not a beer to drink every night, but interesting rating!
