Verhalten malziger Geruch. Test vom 31.8.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 10,13,13,14,14,14 - 13,30

Taster at Binny’s, Orland Park. A pleasant surprise at the end of an afternoon of tasting. They call it fire-brewed, with the wort socrching in the brew kettle for color, like Stroh’s originally was. Gives it, yes, a nice dunkel taste, which comes close the a steinbeer. Dark and rich, and leaves a bit of caramel behind on the lips.

(can) Very dark brown colour with a ruby shine and a short greige foam. Slightly roasty and moderately sweet dark malt aroma with caramel and coffee, light herbal hoppy background. Sweetbitter flavour, medium body, crispy mouthfeel. Roasted malty taste with caramel, coffee; medium dry bitter, slightly hoppy finish with a sweet and slightly smoky aftertaste with a touch of chocolate. Quaffable Dunkel with a light smoky note.

500 ml bottle, bought in Poland. Beautiful dark mahogany colour, large and lasting creamy tan head. Aroma of rye bread, caramel and toasted malts, hints of leather. Flavour is very rich and malty sweet, you might say VERY sweet. Notes of caramel and plenty of lightly toasted malts. Hints of coffee. Just enough hops in the finish to balance the sweetness. Interesting beer!

(Bottle 50 cl) Mahogany coloured with a reddish orange glow and a creamy, off-white head. Sweet aroma of roasted malt. Rather full-bodied dominated by sweetish, roasted malt and caramel. Ever so slightly burned edge. Reminds me a bit of a pumped up Danish "hvidtøl". 250406

500ml bottle from Albert, Warsaw. Deep ruby colour, with thick beige head. Raisins and choc aromas and flavours. Soft in mouth with dry finish. Really very attractive beer. Soft raisiny choc with good malts that give it a grainy feel in the mouth too. Good beer, shame I only bought 1 bottle

Can (BB 12/2005)
Dark ruby, creamy tanned head. Sweet, skunky hoppy nose. Harsh version of Hartwall’s Dark Lager: a bit roasted, sweetish, shows some alcoholic harshness in the finish.
