2009-05-26, draught at Plan B, Copenhagen, 6-4-8-3-14=35
Black color; medium head. It has a light aroma of paper. Medium bodied, it has a good mix of flavors: roasted malt, chocolate malt and some caramel, with light residual sweetness too. Solid, but honestly at the festival it tested better.

Black color. The aroma is quite papery, with delicate roasted malt and chocolate. Good body, very chocolatey, with a very nice smoke touch; in the end it’s a bit astringent and has a liquorice touch. Very good.

Bottled at PBF. Very black, beige head. Rubbery licorice aroma. Sweet and soft, plenty of strawberry and rubber, some coffee. Near full bodied with an increasing sticky saccharine sweetness that gets in he way.

Bottled 1 ltr (PBF, "steel tank conditioned"). Opaque black color, small brown head, some lace. Smokey, tobacco aroma, roasted notes. Roasted, licorice, lots of tobacco and ash. Medium-bodied. Long roasted aftertaste. A bit too much tobacco ash for my liking.

On tap at Copenhagen Beerfestival. Thx Rene. It pours a black body under a small, tan head. The nose has a sublte smoke hint, chocolate and coffee, faint notes of ham, and some alcohol. The flavor has smoke in the background, with chocolate, coffee, roasted/burnt malts and a nice hoppyness. Some alcohol evident too, getting stronger at the end. Roasted, bitter finish. Full-bodied and quite dry, with some warmth. A lovely one. Rating: 8-4-8-4-17-4.1. 090515

Growler, for free at Plan B. It’s a black beer, with a big, lacings leaving tan head on top. Licorice, butterscotch hints, roasted malts, malty sweetness, a touch of sourness and some alcohol on the nose. Rather sweet on the palate, full-bodied, smooth and lighlty warming. Licorice, some hints of butterscotch and caramel and a bitterness chiming in towards the end. Roasted flavors too. Lasting finish with a certain warmth. Still nice after two years on growler. Especially the appearance impresses. Didn’t adjust the scores due to age and the fact that it was served from a growler. Rating: 7-5-7-4-15-3.8. 110527
