Bomber from a small liqour store in La Jolla. Nose is lightly funky with some slight yeast and sugary aromas. Cloudy amber with a medium beige head. Flavor is funky and tart with some brown sugar. No date markings but glass had 04 08 at the bottom.

Cheap Bomber. Pours with a skimp off-white head over a hazed deepish orange body that is way to light for the style. Fading head, no lace. Aroma of straw, husk, grain, honey, light banana ester, metal and leather. Taste is vegital, metallic, possibly a bit cloying and spicy. A bit of oxidation. Some candi and clove, with rotting fruit. I have heard this brewer is a very talented homebrewer, but this is not good stuff in this bottle. Maybe it was poorly kept. Thin and dry.

Blind tasting at Papsø’s
Cloudy red-amber color. Mild aroma, some wood, plumcake, late lemon and vegetables. Sweet and sour flavor, with light fruits, quite confusing, even if not bad.

From bottle, blind #40. Pours hazy dark orange with a small and collapsing white head. Dense overripe fruity aroma, dense barley malt too. Light acidic and citric bitter flavoured. Dense fruity and abricot flavoured with a note of prunes and mild spiced notes from coriander. Nice infection. Smooth and overripe fruity finish with a light acidity.

Bomber from Hi-Time. Mild caramel aroma with hints of yeast spice and belgian candi. Blood orange tinged amber color with a white head that flattens and minimally laces. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavors are light stone fruit, caramel, clove, yeast, and something like hop? Finish is not dry, but not overly sweet either. Except for the caramel I’d say this is edging towards a tripel. Whichever, it is a drink that is undeniably belgian.
