You can all just twistoff 12 ounce bottle from the brewery. AND I AM NOW THE KING OF SPRECHER! Sorry crossovert, and I know that's not saying much. I'm drunk. 11.9% ABV seems stupid now, but whatever. Clear dark amber, thin fizzy tan head that fades quickly. Aroma of raisin, toffee, vanilla, oak. Taste is vanilla, oak, raisin, hints of whiskey. Thin bodied, high carbonation. Decent.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 11/16/2012. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy deep reddish/copper/light brown color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big raisin, plum, fig, pear, apricot, red apple, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, bourbon, and toasted oak; with lighter notes of vanilla, coconut, toffee, peat smoke, leather, roast, herbal, pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity yeast, dark/bready malt, bourbon barrels, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Slight booze in the aromas as it warms, but not overwhelming. Taste of big raisin, plum, fig, pear, apricot, red apple, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, bourbon, and toasted oak; with lighter notes of vanilla, coconut, toffee, peat smoke, leather, roast, herbal, pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of dark fruit, pear, apricot, red apple, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, bourbon, toasted oak, coconut, light vanilla/toffee, peat smoke, herbal, pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity yeast, dark/bready malt, bourbon barrels, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness balance, with zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, fairly tannic, and lightly silky/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is good. Pretty thin feeling for the ABV, but not bad. Mildly increasing warmth of 11%, with no barrel booziness. Overall this is a delicious BBA scotch ale! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity yeast, dark/bready malt, bourbon barrels, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV. Very rich and complex, with great balance between yeast, malts, barrels. Great barrel presence and integration, without being boozy. Only real complaint is with the body/mouthfeel; but this was really enjoyable, and a spot on style example otherwise.

650 ml bottle, thanks to a trade with Adrien. Color is a cloudy Amber / orange color when held to the light. Aroma is bold oak, moderate bourbon, light toffee and maybe dark fruits
Flavor is shows a big amount of oak with a toffee and dark fruits. Hints of butterscotch. Lower carbonation with a slick / oily texture. Body is medium with a lasting oak finish. Yeah, overall it’s alright.

Reddish pink orange, a small thin white head....a slight bit of sediment. Smells really good. A really to-style aroma for a scotch ale. The oak is very present, a little caramel and toffee to top it off. I hate to say it but I get what I’d equate to how a puppy smells after it vomits in the taste. You know the smell fi you’ve ever had a dog. Taste is also more oak chips than oak barrel. Overly naked, spicy even with a lot of smoke. a little plastic at the finish.

Hazy, muddy brown and ruby tinted body with a very thin, oily tan head and almost no movement at all. Aroma of huge amounts of oak, scotch, whiskey, brandy, cognac, rye and a ton of sugars - pungent, for sure. Full-bodied; Strong whiskey and brandy flavours throughout with some pit fruit notes, a little raisin, some earthy malt and a dry oaky finish, but the alcohol notes are by far the strongest. Aftertaste shows the warmth of a scotch or brandy with a hint of sugars, a lot of oak and dryness, a tiny yeast note and a lot more alcohol kick. Overall, a super pungent beer that is perhaps a bit too much like a scotch or brandy than a beer - but if that’s what you want, then definitely try this beer. It’s a bit too strong for me, but definitely too strong, considering this is a 65 cL bottle. A well put together beer, but a bit too strong and too large. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Discount Liqour in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on 05-September-2012 for US$13.99 sampled just over a year later at home in Washington on 14-September-2013.

Blind tasting at Papsø’s
Hazy dark amber color. Malty aroma, with vanilla oak. Woody caramel flavor, dryish, but mostly alcoholic, with an underlying sourness. The final is quite dry, still with traces of vanilla, with a lightly astringency. A bit too chaotic.
