The first ever batch brewed by The Bruery, Batch No. 1 is the result of a homebrew contest we held in order to determine our first batch. Loren Miraglia and Mark Graham entered a fantastic Belgian-style Golden Strong Ale that captured the judges attention. Batch No. 1 has a pepper-like spiciness and fruit forward flavors of pear and apricot. It is deceptively potent and will continue improving with age. (ABV: 11%, IBU: 20, SRM: 6, Release: One Time Only, Format: 750 mL bottles).

bottle number 431/2157 pours hazy burnt orange with a tall frothy off white head. Lemon peel, peach, yeast and alcohol in the nose. Sweet peach juice and bitter lemon peel mix with a peppery hot alcohol finish. The sweetness is not overbearing, but cloying with the alcohol going unoticed until the lengthy finish. Very nice brew.

Sampled from a750 ml green bottle this beer poured a hazy vivid golden color with a small head and some chunky bits suspended. The aroma was tangy, sweet and had touches of caramel and ripe fruits. The flavor was tangy and fruity with a sugary and yeasty undertone and touches of cherry, caramel and nut. The finish was long, sour and tangy. Thick body but a bit too much alcohol shows through. Interesting.

Bottle 75cl. @ Papsoes blindtasting. [ Bottle #4. ]Hazy medium yellow orange color with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to heavy fruity and spicy, peppery, alcoholic. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration, and peppery. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is moderate alcoholic. [20090612]

Bottled. An unclear golden beer with a lazing orangey head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt, citrus, peaches, and over ripe fruits. The flavor is very sweet with notes of malt, oranges, and peaces, as well as a lighter note of alcohol, which burns lightly in the throat. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of bu11zeye. Pours an opaque orangey golden with an off-white head. Fruity aroma with spices, yeast and alcohol presents. Quite full-bodied, fruit, yeast spices and phenols. Fairly bitter and alcoholic finish. 120609

Pours slightly hazy deep gold with nice white head. The aroma has musty apricots and pears to go along with sugar sweetness, honey, spices and herbs. The taste starts with a pulse of vague sugar sweetness and then moves into pear and apricot fruity sweetness. It becomes mildly honey like with a thin layer of tartness just underneath. Nice full flavors blending together creating a pleasing experience.

Bottle: Poured a clear deep golden color ale with a small bubbly head with average retention and no lacing. Aroma of candi sugar with some dry European hops and floral notes also noticeable. Taste is dominated by sweet malt which borderlines on being gross with not much else in terms of characteristics. Body is somewhat oily with some low carbonation but no alcohol flavor. This is a sweet mess with no carbonation and must admit if also my first disappointment from a usually fine brewery.
