Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours a dark brown with a warming tint of red and a tall and very lively light brown head. Ashy, burned malt aroma. Medium body with hard roasted malt and an ashy edge. Not much chocolate feel though. Lightly malt bitter finish. 140509

22 fl oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a little orange glare and a slowly collapsing tan head. Dry chocolate, light roasted and vague vanilla aroma. Mild spiced, chocolate, vague vanilla and roasted malt. Light acidic touch coming through. Acidic and spiced flavoured finish.

Bottle. Dark, almost black beer with a light tan head. Chocolate aroma with light roast/coffee. Roasty, chocolate, malt flavor with backing hops. Medium-plus bodied. Lingering roast, some chocolate, and malt. More hops than expected for a chocolate stout.

Pours black with light brown head. Aromas of burnt malts and coffee. Similar flavors, not really any chocolate, I was expecting more. Medium to full body with minimal carbonation and a dry finish. Nothing special unless you want an organic beer.

Bottle. Poured black with a foamy tan head, no lacing. Faint aroma of chocolate malt. Much bittersweet chocolate in the flavour, along with the malt. Lingering chocolate flavour. This seemed a bit unbalanced on the chocolate side, but it DOES call itself a chocolate stout so I should not complain.

Deep brown, tan head. Great cocoa dark chocolate nose. Light bodied cocoa taste lightly roasted, undercarbonated. Not a stout, actually a brown ale. For those who say it was black, look again, hold it to the light, you can see through it!!

This is a 12 oz bottle from Vintage Estates in Boardman. $1.50 per bottle. Pour is quite black, like used shovelhead oil. The aroma is roasty sweet and it has a decent bouquet about it. No head to speak of. First taste is a little bitter but that rapidly fades to a roasty unsweetened dark chocolate flavor. Decent carbonation for a sweet stout. Has that back of throat burnt sensation like the feeling you get when you get meat that has been charred on the grill. Quite an experience. A little too bitter for me if this is a sweet stout but I see now that it is not. Not nearly as good as Bells Kalamazoo or Yards Love Stout. Both of those are certainly more enjoyable. However, better than Lagunitas Cappachino and Youngs Double Chocolate Stout.
