Bottled. Brown pour, some malts and hops predominating. A decent brown, nothing too amazing here but good enough.

Bottle. Really nice deep brown color. Aroma was roasted grains with hints of burnt toast. The taste was the issue. The bitterness of the almost burnt malts with the bitterness of the hops was just a little much. If one is looking for a bitter dark beer then this is for you.

Notes from October 2009 I had this on tap not too long ago & didn't care for it. Hoppy browns are not my sort of thing. So I found this bottle in the back of the fridge with a BB notch still in range. With only a vague memory, I think I can go again. Chocolate toffee & orange rind fill the air around my pint glass. Tree sap, steeping grains, a bit of lactose, & some stiffening aerosol as I go in closer. Half inch of milky, tan head. Ruby brown body that carries just a small burden of haze. Taste is earthy & dirty. Charred toast, sharp cherry pits & half tart plum skins. Dusty malt. Moderate bark-like bitterness with an addition of coffee grounds. Lingering steel finish. Frothy, but the majority of the body was thin & coarse. I almost finished it.

4 oz pour on draft at Spacebar. Clear dark amber brown with beige head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, light roast. Tastes of malt, caramel, toffee, light dark fruit, some bitter roasty notes. Medium body with a dry finish.

Bottle right at best by date A: Big rocky beige head with good retention. Dark ruby/mahogany color. Good looking. little visible carbonation. S: Slight cocoa and roast with a slight hint of grassy hops. T: Bitter and roasty at first with no sweetness. Some orange zest and pith to finish. M: Lighter than expected and not gummy or cloying. Fairly clean, dry finish. O: Nice light and hoppy brown. Worth buying again.

Decent brown ale with nice roast malt. Finishes light bitter with some sourness. Pours brown with good head and lacing. Bottle.

Bottle @ home, picked up in North Carolina. Pours a dark copper orange appearance with a big fluffy brown head. Twangy red fruity, citrusy nose. Some caramel and nutty elements. Kind of strange fruity aroma. Fairly bitter, nutty herbal flavor with a serious twanginess. Quite bitter. Moderate sweetness. Twangy finish. Not sure what is going on here.

Bottle with a clear amber brown color. Sharp and toasty malt flavors. rather sharp with a nice bitter bight. A bit brash for a Brown.

From a 12 bottle shared in Avon, NC. Pours a hazy brown with a thick ecru head. Rich caramel malt nose. Very effervescent mouthfeel. Hops kick in big time. Interesting but doesn’t completely work for me.
