Bottle 66cl. @ [ Tasting by cgarvieuk ]. [ Vintage 2008 ]. Light light unclear medium to dark amber color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is heavy malty, caramel, nutty, rye, raisin marinade in alcohol, alcohol. Flavor is light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily - syrupy, carbonation is soft to flat. It feels a bit young - IMO it will be better with the aged. [20090412]

Bottle at home ... with Jan and Charlotte ... red copper ... sweet toffee nose ... sweet caramal ... light hop ... little suger ... little banana ... lacking a bit of depth ... think age would have done this well ... none the less quite a plesant drink ... probaly suffering a little as it followed a really great example of a beer in my favourite style

Sampled at Toronado 2009 Barleywine Festival. Pours striking clear copper to rose with amber core and thin tan head. The aroma is full of sweet rich dark fruity esters of prunes, plums, some cherry and a little bit of raisin to go along with pine hops in the background. I also get an understandable bit of heat on the nose with a longer draw. But hey, it’s a big beer. The taste is much the same as the aroma, fantastic for the style, with deep rich dark fruitiness with wrinkled prunes, figs and ripe plums with a bit of cherry. Just deep richness that makes me want to sip it all night. For a bit of balance a light amount of pine hop bitterness is rolling around in the background. I love this stuff.

Draft. 2008 Vintage. Mahogony beer with a tan head. Sweet malt aroma. Malt flavor with earth and hops to balance. Some bitterness showing through. Medium bodied. Sweet malt lingers with some light caramel and light spice.

Bottle shared by AgentSteve at Woodshop Quad, Lightly hazy rust with a medium light beige head. Nose was dark fruit with some nutty woodiness and hoppiness. Flavor was light hop bitterness and some prunes. pretty good BW!
