Bottle, 75cl, shared by Papsoe. It pours a flat, slightly pale golden body without any head. Alcohol, sweetness and some papery notes in the aroma. The flavor is sweet and honey-ish, with some heather and alcohol. Medium, sticky, warm mouthfeel, with a little watery feeling. Lasting finish with honey-sweetness and heather. Alcohol too. A quite decent mead, but lacking a bit to compete with the best. (090514)

75 cL clear bottle, courtesy of fiulijn. Pours clear and golden yellow with a small white head. Dense honey aroma, light spiced and a bit herbal too. Sweet honey flavoured, light warming on the back of the tongue. Slight herbal and alcohol dense flavoured finish. Smooth and easy though.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of fiulijn. Clear amber golden. Fine honey aroma. Not particularly full-bodied, good honey accents with a piquante woody edge. Has a light tartness in the finish. Lovely. 210309

Bottled. A slightly hazy amber mead. The aroma is sweet and dominated by honey, but also with medium notes of rosehips and flowers. The flavor is very sweet with strong notes of honey and medium notes of rosehips, alcohol, and flowers, but also with a slight acidity running down the throat - can that come from the barrel. But otherwise the aftertaste is of newly made honey with lots of pollen. Huge thanks to fiulijn for sharing.

Bottle from Au Grain d’Orge, Neuchâtel
Golden color, just a shade darker than the non oak aged version. Aroma of honey, sweet, lightly flowery, and with some alcohol. Medium bodied, sweet honey flavor, mellower and with a better mouthfeel than the other version, with a balanced light bitterness and a longer final. Difficult to find traces of oak ageing, and, as the non aged version, lacking in complexity.
