Smooth, dark and dangerous, this ale is designed to warm the cockles of your heart whilst sitting around the ingle after a long cold winter’s day outdoors. Although dark and and robust the aftertones of liquorice and blackcurrant make this an ale of complex character, not to be missed.

Cask-filled growler sample at a tasting at Tom's place. Amber. Malt, caramel, a bit of earthy hops, sweetish, moderately bitter finish.

330ml can. Pours a clear deep ruby with a small, creamy, long lasting, beige head that laces. Sweet, mild aroma of toasted caramel malt, plum and brown sugar. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, caramel, licorice, blackcurrant, plum and light ash in a dry, slightly sour finish. Light body with a thin texture and average carbonation. Simple and easy to drink. Not bad.

A sample at The George at Inveraray. Not much aroma, light brown color, taste is a bit flat. So different from the commercial description.

500ml bottle. Pours dark brown, quite fizzy, meaning the head disappeared instantly. Sweet nose with hints of liquorice. Looks and feels a bit watery. Not much taste, maybe a hint of the liquorice I could smell. Slight metallic aftertaste. Ok
