Vielen Dank an Kölschtrinker! Dec 2009: 33cl Brown bottle poured into my ’La Chouffe’ tulip shaped glass. The beer was a reddy brown mahogany colour the tan head didn’t stay long, it soon turned into a wisp and collar. Clear and clean with bubbles rising through, when held to the light. Some treacle and malt molasses in the nose but both very faint and had to be sniffed out. The sweetness from the aroma comes to the fore in the taste too, not sickly or nasty, but this is a sweet Bock. Considering the ABV is 6.8% I was a little disappointed with the body depth and richness for the style. Drinkable but not one of the better Bocks I’ve had.

12/12/11/10/10/11

Bottled. A dark amber beer with a thin lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and a bit of alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, metal, and alcohol, leading to a dry metallic and quite malty finish.

Bottle, 6.8%. Weak caramelly aroma. Clear brown colour. Very small tan head. The flavour is OK malty, there is a little sweet vinousness. Low bitterness. Roasted and creamy aftertaste. Does not taste its ABV.

(33cl bottle) Clear, dark amber to brown colour with a short and tanned foamy layer. Sweet and slightly toasted malty nose with a bready touch and present notes of alcohol. Sweet-bitter flavour, medium to full bodied with a moderate carbonation. Slightly stale and ashy malty taste with bready notes and alcohol towards the finish. Not very complex nor rounded Bock (21.I.09).
