Brewed with Chocolate and Crystal malts to produce this deep bronze coloured beer with a hint of malty flavour, bittered by the traditional Golding hop varieties, this is a classic strong bitter complimented by the aromatic warmth of Chinese stem ginger.

Dark rusty in colour. Godd clarity. Mixed sweetness in aroma. Taste of dark berries - blackcurrant - and citrus (lemon) fruitiness. Ginger bitterness in the ending. Unusual (Half pint on gravity at The St Albans BF, 29.09.2006).

Cask gravity London Drinker BF. It must be some reflection on how good this brewery is in that the first 3 beers I had here were from Dark Star. This had generous lemon grass/ginger and grapefruit aroma. Good russet colour, beige head. Bit sharp in mouth. Not a massive fan of this. Hottish finish from the spicey ginger. Bit juicy.

Cask at the Market Porter, London
Dark amber color. Light malt aroma, a bit minty. Medium malty aroma, with a good hopping, partially aromatic, and a touch of myrth. Interesting.

Cask conditioned at Black Door, Helsinki
Nut brown with steady foamy head. Aroma is fresh hops and yeast. Beer has an average body. Ginger dominates taste and hops give long bitter aftertaste. Good beer for a long and cold winter climate.
