Brewed with Chocolate and Crystal malts to produce this deep bronze coloured beer with a hint of malty flavour, bittered by the traditional Golding hop varieties, this is a classic strong bitter complimented by the aromatic warmth of Chinese stem ginger.

Amber beer with a thin white head and bittersweet smell. Flavour is basically of light fruit but there’s a sickly hit of cinnamon as well and leaves a sort of weird, claggy aftertaste. Not bad but I wouldn’t dash back to it.

(Cask at Viisi Penniä, 20150109) The beer poured dark brown and clear. Its head was small, white and it lasted long. Aroma had malts, molasses and sulphur. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were malts, caramel, grass, earth and bitterness. Aftertaste was earthy and bitter. Aroma was a bit weird but the taste was nicely balanced.

Cask @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. A bright bronze coloured ale with a creamy head. Has a mid-ginger character throughout with an easy to drink nature.

Cask at the Tyburn (JDW), Marble Arch. Golden amber with a ring of white head; light, wintery spice aroma; rather sweet with a pronounced cinnamon and nutmeg taste; then a dry and lightly bitter finish with lingering spice. Not a favourite, and no sign of the promised ginger.
