Bottled. Deep brown colour, mediumsized bubbly white head, which vanishes quite fast. Aroma is roasted malts, raisins, some chocolate, brown sugar and mild sweetness. Flavour is chocolate, toffee, some ashes, toasted rye bread and some sweet syrupy notes.

[Cask at Chippenham BF] Dark brown with a light fizz. Chocolate, espresso & smoke. Some ginger in the finish. Didn’t do it for me - a little on the thin and dry side. c8

Cask at NWAF 2009. A dark red-brown beer with a thin tan head. The aroma has notes of malt sweet as well as roasted plus light notes of chocolate. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, chocolate, and roasted malt, leading to a dry roasted finish.

Cask-conditioned at the Bag O’Nails, Bristol 25/9/07. Near balck with a decent, foamy white head. Aroma of cofee and milk chocolate. Flavour had some sweet caramel to start before some bitterness and a hint of sourness to finish. Very enjoyable.

Cask gravity at Kingston BF 2007. Black, dark brown edges. Thin beige head. Smooth porter, with choc bitterness rounded by some decent fruit. It’s alright. Too much roasted malt. Fine, drinkable, good flavours.
