Cask at Helter Skelter, Frodsham. Pours a brownish red / amber with a tight cream head. Has a nice simple malty aroma. Malts again dominate in the mouth, together with some fruits and caramel, to give a sticky texture. Finish is bitter-sweet. Not a complex beer, but a top quality one ! [ rather than a bitter, I would call this an “Irish red”, but I’m not sure if RB recoignises that style]

Cask pint in my local Wetherspoons on 9th March 2015. Not as red as a ’bullseye’ but there is a red hue to the brown body, an off-white head topped it off. Mild aroma of red berries and hedgerow fruits, the taste similar: bittering drying finish. Decent.

Cask @ Puzzle Hall Inn, Sowerby Bridge. Has a dark amber-red colour with a small head. Has a sweet-malt aroma with a small sweet taste, almost approaching a graininess but not quite.

Cask at The New Oxford, Manchester. A dark red-brown beer with a rim of brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt as well as a touch of soy sauce. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel, roasted malt, and soy sauce - somewhat weird flavor combination. The body is light.

On gravity at the Mermaid, St Albans 15/02/09. Reddish copper in colour with a moderate, off-white head. Aroma of fruity malts and leafy hops. Well-balanced flavour with some chewy malts, a hint of sweetness and a decent bitter finish. Good.
