*Old rating, best before 10.2010. Fruchtig-malziges Bockbier. Nicht zu tief, sehr süffig, etwas zu süßlich. Nett.

Hazy dark pour with a thick, collapsing beige head. Sweet caramel aroma. Dark fruits and toasty malt flavor.

Mild dunkelmalziger Antrunk, etwas herb, kaum würzig. Herb-bitter im Mittelteil, wenig malzig und weiter so gut wie gar nicht würzig. Im Abgang allein bitter ohne andere Einflüsse. Dürftig. 8/8/8/8/12/8
Earlier Rating: 5/1/2011 Total Score: 2
Eindimensionaler Bock.

Pours deep mahogany into a shaker. Off-white head with good retention slowly recedes to coat surface. Roasted nuts and cardboard aromas. Thin and soft with sweet roasted caramel and nuts with slight cardboard in the lasting finish. Perhaps this one has a little too much age on it...but bought it fresh.

bottle from Bierzwerg. Clear brown colour, mid-sized beige head. Malty nose. Malty with hints of caramel and chocolate, also shy hints of honey.

Bottled (from bierzwerg.de). Very deep ambery brown colour, with mediumsized off-white head. Aroma is sweet malts, some chocolate cookies, mild raisins and some wood. Flavour is quite much burnt sugar along with sweet malts, some bready malts, raisins and wood. I still also find some slight chocolate in this... Quite easy to drink and pleasant dunkler bock though.

Pour is a super dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is bready and caramel malts. Flavor is caramel malts, earthy and some dark fruit. Leaves a nice roast malt on the tounge after the swallow. This is a decent little beer.

Bottle from Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa, CA. Pours reddish brown with a bubbly light tan head. Aroma of rich roast malt with a little heat. Medium plus body with rather mild carbonation. It’s very smooth. Roast caramel, dark, with something like raisin or date. It has some bitterness offsetting the sweetness. I can imagine a touch of chocolate. No heat. Thinner than many bocks, and here that’s a very good thing. Rather refreshing and clean without the thickly sweetness in many.

The bottle looks really good, the beer in the glass also. Starts malty and strong, not too roasty. More dry than spicy. Not very sweet. Notes of caramel and liquorice. Good bock!

The bottle looks strange, but good, the beer in the glass also. Nice creamy head. Starts mild and malty, not too roasty, notes of plum. Smoky finish, modest dry. Very drinkable and good bock!
