Jack Whacker Wheat Ale

Tommyknocker Brewery in Idaho Springs, Colorado, United States 🇺🇸

  Wheat Ale Regular
Score
5.66
ABV: 5.4% IBU: - Ticks: 51
An American-style wheat ale brewed with 30% malted wheat and 2 row barley. Low hopping rates allow the refreshing aroma and citrus flavor of a late addition of lemon grass to dominate. This unfiltered beer retains all of its protein, flavor, and some of its yeast, resulting in a traditionally cloudy appearance.

(Keg at Tommyknocker Helsinki, 20150722) The beer poured golden and hazy. Its head was small and white. Aroma had fruitiness and farmhouse characteristics. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were mild sourness, sweetness, fruitiness and bitterness. Aftertaste was spicy and bitter. A rather weak spicy wheat ale.

Draught @ tommyknocker beer bar. Unclear amber, thick white head. Aroma has some offensive sweet glue notes, red berries? Weird. Flavor has ripe berries, citrus, sourness. Thin body. Feels like this is not in best shape, a wheat ale should not be this sour?

Bottle. A- Grass, wheat, lemon, corn. A- Golden color, cloudy liquid, minimal white head. T- Wheat, lemons, herbs, corn. P- Light body, creamy texture, average carbonation, smooth finish. O- Not sure what the unusual aroma and taste is but I am assuming it is the lemon grass. Kind of helps it on the palate but hurts it on the nose. It was nothing special and really just another wheat beer.

Very hazy yellow with a short, off-white head. Lemon-citrus aroma, light spice. Wheat, lemongrass, citrus, pepper notes in flavour. It’s ok....just sort of "there".....nothing awful, nothing memorable. Dull.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a cloudy gold with about a finger of white head. Aroma of wheat and lemons. Taste is light sweet. Wheat and lemon pine-sol. Medium bodied with a thick texture. Fizzy carbonation but a long finish. Overall, not bad. Probably a good beer for drinking outside during a hot summer day.
