On tap. Poured a clear dark brown with a near white head that dissipated slowly to the edges. Aroma had dark grains and pecans with a surprisingly soft maple undertone. Flavor had more maple in it, kind of a fresh maple syrup aroma with grains and a bit of pecan underlying. Kind of tasted like whole grain pancakes with maple syrup.

Bottled. Deep rubyish amber/brown colour with a small beige head. Aroma is mild roasted malts, some red berries, dark dry fruits, mild chocolate and alcohol as well. Flavour is quite much the same along with some burnt sugary sweetness and liquorice. Alcohol gives a nice warming touch after swallowing. Yet it’s quite balanced.

courtesy of a good RBian. 2007 bottle. Pours hazy dark brown, beige head with golden lacing. Aroma had distinct pecan nose with some subtle maple. Flavor, good maple mouthfeel with some underlying pecan. Aging added some soy like characteristics with light caramel malts and chocolate. Tasty though the pecan and maple profile remianed a little in hind sigh.

(Bottle, 0.75 l, at Pikkulintu, Helsinki, on 2009-04-04 -- shared with sayravai and isos, thanks!) Port wine red and hazy. Port wine, nuts and alcohol in aroma. Full bodied and dry palate with little carbonation. Wood, fruitiness, port wine, maple syrup and bitterness in taste. Roastedness and maple syrup in aftertaste.

Bottle 75cl. @ [ Shorts Tasting ].Clear medium red brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting - diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is caramel, nutty - pecans, earth, bourborn cask, wood, maple syrup, alcohol, licorice notes, liquorice pipe. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish is light alcoholic. [20081108]

Tasting at Papsoe
Hazy chestnut color. It’s a very strange brew, with strong caramel aroma and flavor. But also light vegetables aroma, soup aroma, spicy flavor, cookies, vegetables, chocolate. Weird!

(Bottle 75 cl) Pours a hazy, reddish golden amber with an off-white head. Sweetish overripe fruit and alcohol in the nose. Quite full-bodied with notes of overripe fruit dominating. Very distinct alcohol in the finish. Interesting. 311008
