This beer is available each autumn in celebration of the great Bavarian festival season. Brewed in late spring and cellared throughout the summer, our Oktoberfest is produced through traditional methods as it has been for centuries in Germany, This copper-hued lager owes its rich malt flavor to a generous combination of select Vienna and Munich malts. Cool, open-fermentation develops a subtle elegance and drinkability suited to any festive occasion.

Purchased at Foremost Liquors in Chicago, IL as a six pack; enjoyed at home while watching the first football game of the year on a cool early September night. Appearance is a clear amber with a very thin white rim. Aroma is mostly of caramel malt, similar for the style, with a light fruit / sweetness backing. Taste is pretty decent, I’d say average for the style, not bad but nothing exceptional. Good stuff though.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured an orange-caramel color with a small foamy orange-white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sweet and tangy caramel, fig, toffee and was surprisingly boozy. The flavor was tangy and sweet toasted caramel with faint ripe fruits, toffee and more booze. Medium length boozy caramel and fruit finish. Medium body. Ok.

12 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, best before 11/7/2017. Pours slightly hazy orange/copper color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with good retention, that reduces small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and moderate earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, nuttiness, herbal, grass, pepper, and yeast/toasted earthiness for a good bit. Nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and moderate earthy hop flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance, and slight lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Fairly clean on lager flavors, a bit fruity/yeasty. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy/sticky, and fairly crisp balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.6%. Overall this is a nice Oktoberfest. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt and moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink; with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Could definitely benefit on toning down the earthy hop presence, but otherwise really tasty with rich Munich malt flavors. A nicely enjoyable offering, and good style example.

Bottle @ home. Dark amber appearance with an off white head. Toasty caramel malty, slightly nutty, toffee, lightly grassy-floral hoppy nose. Grassy, caramel, toffee malty lager flavor with some floral notes. A little too sweet and unbalanced for my taste.

Deep copper body with a tall, frothy off-white head. Malt aroma, no hops. Lightly sweet, a bit thin. With so many O’fests, there are better ones to choose that shouldn’t be hard to find.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite - Jersey City, 11/4/10
Aroma: The nose is quite malty, it has a lot of caramel, syrup, butterscotch, and a little grass
Appearance: The pour of this beer has a clearish amber color with minimal head and no lace
Flavor: The flavor is pretty sweet with lots of caramel flavors and a mild earthy hop presence
Palate: The mouthfeel is kind of thick, almost syrupy, with a soft carbonation, and a crisp finish
Overall Impression: Overall, this was a decent Oktoberfest. It has pretty typical flavors for the style, but those flavors work pretty well. I thought it was a pretty solid example of a style I don’t typically love, but enjoyed more then usual this time. Solid stuff.
