Mild malzig-säuerlicher Antrunk, hintergründig wird das Malz geringfügig stärker. Durch den nur wenig erkennbaren Hopfen im Abgang etwas trocken, im Mittelteil deutlich aber passend mild fruchtig. /8/10/8/fl/9

Sampled from a bottle, only 50ml, at EBF 08. Nice body colour – deep, dark red-tinged. Beige layer. Sweet, malty smell with spices coming through. Brown sugar and caramel malts lead the way to a bitter, fruity ending. Soft in the mouth (13.09.2008).

Bottled@EBF2008. Deep amber colour, small brown head. Aroma is spicy, mildly wooden, dark dry fruits and also has some slight yeastyness in it. Flavour is caramel, wood, mild yeast and some hops. Mildly ashy notes in the finish too.

750 ml bottle generously shared by after4ever at Uber Tavern in Seattle. Bottle brewed June 2007. Pour is black with ruby highlights. Not much of a head, what exists is dirty white. Aroma of soft sweetness along with some really light funkiness. Taste is really full, caramel maltiness, raisin fruitiness, nice development. Nice grassy earthiness on the palate. The funkiness returns with just a hint in the finish. Really nice one, thanks for sharing this Tom.

Bottle, 75cl corked. Bought it at Bolcher & Specialiteter in Hirtshals, where the owner was kind enough to let me have a generous sample before buying it. Knew I would buy it anyway of course, but it is always nice to sample a good beer. It pours a dark, reddish brown body, quite unclear, with a beige, medium-sized head. Mocha, some coffee and hops in the aroma, a bit anonymous I think. The flavor has much the same, with dried fruits and a sour touch. Quite fullbodied, with a pleasant bitterness in the finish. Rating: 6-4-7-4-14-3.5. 071228
Bottle, 75cl corked. A reddish dark brown beer topped by a small, beige head. Dried fruits, chocolate and roasted malts on the nose. It’s full-bodied and smooth on the palate, with flavors of chocolate, rosted malts and some dried fruits. The finish is of the lasting kind, with chocolate, dried fruits and roasted malts melting nicely together. Still lovely, even though it was past BB-date. 091127
