Labeled: Oppigards Well Hopped Lager:
Super clear golden coloured body with huge bubbles rising from the side and a thin frothy white head - looks like a very crummy american macro. Aroma of metal, fresh malt, a bit of fresh hops, some light caramel and a very slight twang of fruits. Light to Medium-bodied; Odd complex taste up front with sweetness fading to maltiness ending with a potent hop kick. Aftertaste shows some character with sweetness and bitterness balancing out well - but everything else is less than pleasing. Overall, this offering isn’t great and is probably best not drunk. That said - I’ve never seen this beer before, so I was glad to have had it. Now, I won’t have another one from this brewery unless I hear amazing things. I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased earlier today from West LakeView Liquors in Chicago, Illinois on 24-January-2008.

Bottle. 50 ml. Labeled as Oppigards Well-Hopped Lager. Hazy, dark yellow pour with a diminishing white head. Sweet aroma with a mix of fruit and floral hops. Notes of grass and grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter and lightly acidic. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Dry finish with a distinct taste of breadiness and bitterness lingering. Nice balance, plenty of flavor, easy to drink.

Bottle as Oppigards Well-Hopped Lager. Strong noble hop aroma. Golden color and a white head that climbed out of the bottle, but flattened rapidly in the glass. Medium body with fizzy/creamy carbonation. The flavor is a good balance between pale malt and grassy hop. The finish is a tad bread with hop that persists. This is not so hoppy as Sam Adam’s Imperial Pilsner, but it’s a step in that direction.

(Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival, 21 Sep 2007) Golden yellow colour with brief, white head. Malty, hoppy nose with notes of grass, summer meadows and timothy grass. Malty taste with toffee, hay and generous amounts of grassy, floral hops in a long, dry, fairly bitter finish. Nice, well hopped lager leaning in the czech direction.

[At Stockholm Beer Festival 2005] A slightly hazy orange beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is very light, with only hints of caramel. The flavor is sweet and rather hoppy - I’m reminded of a Czech pilsener.
