Cask, gravity at The Bell Beer Festival, Adderbury, Nr Banbury, Oxon, 04.09.10 Pours amber with off-white head. Nice beer with a streaky bitterness that lingers for a while, drinks well considering the low abv. Not a lot to comment on, but its fine. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of hops, grass, and grapefruit lending it a slight acidity. The flavor is sweet malty with a slight acidic edge on which notes of grass and grapefruit appear, leading to a very sry and bitter finish, where the acidic edge still lingers. The body is thin. Thanks to fonefan and Brugmansia for sharing.

Bottle, kindly shared by fonefan. It looks quite nice in the glass, with a hazy, golden body under a dense, medium sized beige head. Unfortunately, that’s where the good things stop. Or at least come to a halt, because the finish is quite decent, with some caramel and a distinct sourish, citric touch. The aroma has some caramel notes too, but is definately overpowered by the dusty, sourish, citric impression. That impression continues in the flavor too, but at least there’s a caramel-sweetness to it. It has a thin and slightly astringent mouthfeel, and even though there’s some caramel sweetness preventing it from being completely sour, I can’t bring myself to give it more than a three on aroma and flavor. Sure, it’s drinkable, but it’s also gone bad. (080822)
