A premium, traditional Irish red ale. Hilden Halt has a malty, mild hop flavour and medium bitterness. This special reserve is named after the local train stop, which used to service the old Barbour linen mill behind Hilden House. At a robust strength of 6.1% ABV, Hilden Halt is our strongest ale so be careful not to get derailed. Hops: Goldings, Challenger and Saaz

Bottle shared at RBESG ’14, day 2 on the mean streets of Bermondsey, 08/08/14 - big thanks to Fergus. Clear copper golden with a moderate light beige covering. Nose is buscuit malt, bready, fruit notes. Taste comprises orchard fruit, malty, light caramel, grain. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close with a subtle bitter rinse. So so.

Bottle shared during RBESG 2014 - big thanks to Fergus for providing this rare style from his motherland. Pours clear amber with a creamy, off-white head. The nose has bread and light ginger. Sugary flavor, bready, with some berry jam and cereal. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sugary-bready finish with more jammy and gummy fruits. OK.

Bottle thanks to fergus. It pours clear amber with a small beige head. The nose is earthy, toasty, brown bread and light caramel. The taste is bitter, toasty, brown bread, mind caramel, generic sweetness and paper with a short, dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Pretty so-so. No depth....

Bottle from Asda, Enniskillen [220614]
Light caramel brown, clear, large white head that dissipates
Nose of sweet fruity caramel malts, cake spice notes
Taste of caramel, soft fruity, no hops, soft spicy - soft gingerbread, bit of fruit cake spices, slight plasticy note in there, alcohol not noticeable, flavour rather thin though for the abv.
Palate has a soft carb, thin to medium body, fairly sweet. Finish has soft spicy caramel malts
Overall - Rather dull for the abv, needs more oomph, but reasonably drinkable. Maybe better on cask

Wouldn’t rate this but for the fact I had it at the brewpub, where they ought to know better. Dull amber. The aroma is more caramelly than anything else, with a little manky fruitiness. Flat body - slick and oily. Just a hint of fruitiness. I’m probably being generous with the score.
