A premium dark mild brewed with a complex mix of malts and oats giving a wonderful depth of flavour, well balanced with undertones of coffee and chocolate and a full finish.

Cask at the Peterborough beer festival 27/08/2016. A clouded red mahogany brown coloured pour with a loose beige head. Aroma is roasted nutty malts, toasted brown bread, raisin. Flavour is composed of semi sweet nutty malts, toast, nice little citrus hop character. Palate is rounded, semi sweet, good cask condition. A nice well made characterful mild.

21st Aug 2016: cask pint in The Star, Filey, Yorkshire. A rich, cream coloured head sat on my dark bodied beer giving off malty esters which included chocolate and coffee notes. The taste a pleasant malt led flavour with again chocolate and coffee being the main participants. The finish was slightly drying: nice pint.

Very dark beer with a thin head. Aroma is an almost stale malt but better than that sounds. Taste is nutty chocolate with a touch of toffee sweetness to balance it and some hops come through as you get through.

Cask @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. Clear but dark with a small red glow and a creamy off-white head. Has a hint of roasted malt in its aroma and taste, but not much, however itโs a decent crisp mild, but mild being the word.

Dark mild from a brewery in North Yorkshire. Light beige, thin, sticky head, dark wine red colour with ruby hue, clear. Aroma shows a certain amount of smokiness (smoked bacon) which I did not expect from a mild, apart from โdropโ, some caramel, bayleaf, grains, something peaty, raisins and a hint of coffee grounds. Dried fruits in the mouth, liquorice, caramelly malts, with the smokiness coming up towards the finish, paired with a light, refreshing tartness and leafy hop bitterness; smooth and somewhat powdery mouthfeel. Very drinkable and more characterful than expected from a mild and in that sense more ambitious than the more traditional examples of the style. Nice one, with thanks to Keith and Susan from the brewery for their generous offer to my friend Vincent, who was kind enough to share a few bottles.

Gravity dispense at the twelfth Twickenham Beer Festival - 18/10/12. Extremely dark mahogony brown approaching black, with a good creamy head. The nose really let this beer down, sulphuric and eggy, a little smoke. Tasted OK to be fair, but always dominated by the sulphuric waft! Roasted malt and light chocolate tones. Good mouthfeel to this mild, medium bodied, moderate carbonation with a very dry and smokey finish. Let down by the aroma!
