Dark, roasted and jam packed full of flavour. Actually it’s very difficult to describe as the characteristics change so much the longer it is allowed to condition for. At its peak it is so rich you feel like asking if it will lend you a tenner.

Richer than a lottery winner, our take on Brampton Mild is not so much a meal in a glass as a 5-course banquet. Coffee, toffee and caramel tones tease your taste buds and warm your cockles.

Bottle from Glen Park Hotel, Ayr. Appearance - lively on opening. Then dark brown and cloudy. A thin head. Nose - nuts and sweet malt. Toffee. Taste - hazelnuts and general praline thing going on. A hint of yeast. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a long and fairly good finish. Overall - I suspect this is better on cask. There is a concerning yeast note in this bottle.

Gravity at Reading Beer Festival 2 May 08. Black as coal. Aroma of coffee and roasted malt. Malt dominates the flavor. Hardly any bitterness. Pleasant - but can you call it a "mild" at 4.9%?
