Jackmans Pale Ale

Average sized head that falls away quickly into a medium amber beer. Diminished malt aroma, little from the hops. Flavor is sweet with just a bit of hops to balance. Just another weak Pale Ale.

2005 bottle. Clear orange-amber colored body with a small white head, low retention. Aroma of sticky caramel malt, sweaty hay, a bit of floral hops, but overall, pretty low on hops aroma. Flavor stays with the malty trend, with some lightly spicy hops, a hint of floral notes but mainly just a simple bready-caramel malt flavor. Medium body, forced carbonation. I liked that it wasn’t over-hopped.

Amber coloured with a low head. Oily hop-aroma. Grassy hop-flavour. Drinkable but not oustanding.

Bottled. Pale amber, near no head. Grapefruit aroma. Medium dry with clean rounded mouthfeel. Veryhoppy, but not extremely so. Juicy hop aromatic finish with good bitterness. A bit more balanced and less stereotypic than many American Pale Ales.

Paid $1.19 for a 12-oz single. Nice orange/copper in color... tiny head. Slightly sweet and citrusy in the nose- nice, but nothing special. Very plain and bland in flavor/taste. Not bad, but it lacks a defined anything in here. A little hoppiness, but it kinda tastes like drinking flavorless pop. It does feel nice in my mouth. Nice carbonation. Without a doubt drinkable, but it's so lacking of any flavor, I can't see why you'd want to.

Tasted at the Barrelhouse Brewing Company Microbrew Fest on November 9. Nice dark gold color with a medium thick head. Decent hops aroma and flavor with a dry, biting finish. Like the other Left Hand offerings this is above average.

A very nice, cascadey pale ale. Orange in color, with definite cascadey aroma, with hints at caramel. Flavor is brisk and hoppy, with more cascade hop flavor. Plenty of malt keeps it balanced and quaffable.Update:Buttery malts come in first, followed by a touch of citric hops. Quick head over an amberish liquid. Feels almost as Britishy as their sawtooth esb, with a rounded malt presence, featuring caramel and perhaps a touch of apricot. Flavoring hops are an afterthought, slightly resiny and citric, and providing only a counterpoint to the malts. Finish has a grapefruit-rind bitter quality, but that also has an herbal/medicinal/cough syrup quality to it. As I get further into it, this licoricey-herbal character seems to become more prominent, and less appealing. I was initially going to rate this higher, but I find I’m liking the beer less and less the further I get into it.
