From the bottle. Deep amber in color with a frothy head. Toast and caramel in the aroma. Taste is much the same. Bittersweet with toast and tobacco rounding out an uneven finish. Medium body. Not overly inspired but I found it quite drinkable.

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks Yoav. Amber. Aroma of malt, caramel, oxidation, a bit of vegetables. Sweetish flavor, toasty, malt, caramel, bitterish finish. Light to medium-bodied. Not too fresh.

Flasche (33) aus dem Tegut-Supermarkt Marburg-Wehrda. - Tiefes Kastanienbraun.

Geschmack leicht schokoladig, mild röstmalzig, etwas Kaffee, sehr gutes Schwarzbier!

On tap at Wirtshaus in Fulda, Germany. Pours clear copper brown with stable off-white head. Clear aroma of malt and caramel with a touch of roast. Roasty onset, giving way to sweetish, malty and caramellish notes. A touch of dark chocolate. Nice, especially on a warm summer’s evening.
