This beer is brewed with the fresh growth of cedar trees (cedar tips), which are steeped at the end of the boil to give the beer a resinous fruity vibe. It’s a light amber coloured ale that’s re-fermented in the bottle and is great on it’s own or paired with savoury lower fat dishes like chicken and white fish.

The proceeds from this beer are donated to the Nature Trust of BC to support their work conserving BC’s wild places. You can learn more about the Nature Trust’s work here: https://www.naturetrust.bc.ca/our-projects/enhancing-bc-estuaries

Orangey amber, low carbo, thin head. Generally sweet beer, the cedar providing more of a herbal, woody accent but not bitterness. So it’s a sticky gruit sort of thing with low level plastic phenols.

473 ml bottle. Pours a bright amber with moderate head. Aromas of sweet apple juice and sharp toasted malts. Flavors of plastic like fruit, wood (though not necessarily cedar), and more sharp toasted malts. Odd

Poured from 500mL bottle. Clear dull gold with dissipating white head. Aroma of apple juice (acetaldehyde? but sweet, very odd), taste still has a touch of the apple juice quality, along with a basic plain herbal malt. Very weird, not sure what to make of this...

500mL bottle, pours a clear copper with a small white head. Nose has subtle cedar notes upfront, with a touch of bready malt in back – pretty gentle. Flavour is odd – unfortunately on the sweet side, with a weird herbal expression that comes along with the cedar. I’m not finding anything to enjoy about this. Doesn’t work for me, especially because of that sweetness.

Bottle pour at East Side Beer Fest. Pours clear gold with a white head. Cedar and sweet malts on the nose. Flavour has a malty base with a crisp, slightly floral pine. A bit on the sweet side, but still nice.
